Loved the interiors of Hamer Hall and DesignInc. “@MelbOpenHouse: Thank you Melbourne for helping us hit 135,000 visits over the weekend!”
@killamouseski Hurts to hear that, Chim. Get well Ziggy.
@established1987 Nice. You should also see architecture in real life at Melbourne Open House this weekend. Look it up.
@oddysee It’s just faster and smoother. Tab switching gestures are really nice and the unified search/address was much needed.
Safari’s awesome again. Thanks Apple.
Great new @Nike ad: Find Your Greatness youtube.com/…ure=youtu.be[+]
@Pesterino That’s a big smile! Great photo.
@andrewlitvak Of course. It’s just taking forever to download.
@andrewlitvak Yeah. It’s not right for the obvious ones, but if being aware of the alternate options is critical, then push it right.
@andrewlitvak Apple has placed primary actions on the right before. Highlighting it is key. On right can help users scan the other options.
“To most people, good design is invisible. Group decisions focus on the visible, bad aspects of design.” —@iA: theverge.com…is-invisible[+]
@souvikdg I jumped on that deal too. No regrets. Loving the Mac app in particular.
Is there an online grid system for controlling the vertical rhythm? Most frameworks are columnar. The web needs a modular grid system.
“Well done is better than well said.” – Benjamin Franklin
@grahamrb more like Eminem ;)
Art direction for NGOs is an art in itself. Political correctness while provoking action, and privacy restrictions on people shots (victims)
Volunteered to quickly design this campaign banner for @riserefugee (riserefugee.org/[+])
C’mon Minister Bowen! http://t.co/XCtGTOB0
A developed nation we may be, but there is nothing developed about our public transportation system. Woefully unreliable and expensive.
@metrotrains delays over 25 minutes on the Pakenham line and not a single announcement?
Writing is the most overlooked skill in UI design. Copywriters prepare content, but functional copy (headings, form labels…) is up to you.
@melizaho I don’t know how they get away with it.
@timmackay Yep, scumbaggery to the max, @IMAXMelbourne!
@grahamrb But I assume it’s for credit card processing, and I’m making a group booking for a bunch of people. Not fair.
#ScumbagUX is @IMAXMelbourne charging an online booking fee PER person.
Reluctantly signed up to @foursquare. Getting swamped by badges and invites, but that free skewer @Sataybar for checking in was worth it.
Typography can’t hide your dull copy. Textures won’t fix your weak composition. Focus on the epicentre. Be creative in the right things.
@established1987 Amazing. Who’s desk is that? Birthday?
@trowdy Fair article. Imagine if print designers didn’t understand typography or the printing process.
My weekend’s music taken care of by Maatibaani, a lovely new indie band from India: youtube.com/…ure=youtu.be[+]. Buy their music if you love it too
@trowdy LOL thanks.
@deanfra Today it’s called UX, tomorrow something else. I just design for humans and try not to use the acronym version of User Experience.
@trowdy @deanfra Sound principles, but ultimately UX is an end result, not a prescription. We need to design well FOR a good user experience
@deanfra Pretty much. It’s what User Experience stood for historically, but overuse and misuse has misrepresented its real focus (People!)
@deanfra I know it’s stretching it, but substitute ‘user’ with ‘human’ and the distinctions in design and channels start to fade away.
@deanfra They are interacting with your store’s staff, brochures, ads or floor plan at a psychological level. In that sense, they are users.
@deanfra @established1987 Because user experience concerns people, regardless of channel. Designing a phone UX or web UX is not dissimilar.
@deanfra @established1987 I don’t make that distinction. I am always designing for users, regardless of whether they’re a customer yet.
Sometimes, the best user experience design is NOT to make a website or iPhone app. Could you design a better store or phone service instead?
@amolpradhan Those things are dangerous I tell ya
I need an umbrella to counter the surrounding umbrellas from taking my eyes out.
Gosh, serving images for responsive design is a pain. Thankfully, this article spells it out nicely: css-tricks.c…uld-you-use/[+]
.@tweetbot of Mac: So good, so soon (Alpha release.)
Get it: tapbots.com/…weetbot_mac/[+]
@andrewlitvak You’d think there’d be more left handers at a company like Twitter :)
@robzolkos @andrewlitvak Left handers layout would be ideal. They could also detect slight tap-and-holds to differentiate.
@andrewlitvak Why is that poor design? The tap area is different and the end result contextual.
@jymmysim Yep, Nitin’s music sure has that vibe with bit more synth. Love working to his tunes.
The clarinet playing to Indian Classical is really something: youtube.com/…ure=youtu.be[+]. Beautiful, @ShankarTacker!

So glad I’m getting Herb Lubalin’s monograph after missing out on TD 63-73: uniteditions…herb-lubalin[+]
@deanfra That’s #scumbagUX
@uniteditions Will there ever be a re-print of TD 63-73? I missed out and would LOVE to order.
@jymmysim @chrisbride #bestnews. I’m sure @deanfra will be happy too.
@jymmysim It’s been fun. Come back to Melb soon!
