@rashmiswamy Thanks, I can’t wait for it to start.

@adriancb all the best in NYC mate.
Road trip through Rajasthan starts soon. Nine cities, 16 forts and palaces, all that food and culture… Boy I’m excited.
@rekharach Awesome. But he shouldn’t be chewing on the box :)

The humble pen and paper (or whiteboard) serve me far better in designing and conveying UI concepts – discussions focus more on the story.
Wireframes in design are much like a film’s storyboard, but early versions are better judged as a film’s script: on the story, not visuals.
@deanfra LOL, we had no announcements at Sandown for 50 minutes. Silence. People were clueless and losing it.
@deanfra The delays were insane. I just went back home.
@grahamrb Pixemator and Acorn do the job well.
Facebook’s newsfeed view is possibly the biggest design opportunity of 2013 — aggregating, inferring and visualising all that social data…
Now this is a better local election message — clear practical goals and shared in person at the local train station. http://t.co/djswY1uN
@owenhodda We asked users what they wanted in a website and they said “I want it to be like an iPhone app.”
@adriancb Oooh that’s a useful homepage for @foursquare. Good find.
@wordsfromwongy LOL. You’ll be my speech writer.
And why are election campaigns limited to election times? We never hear from candidates during the year and now we have to believe them?
@andrewlitvak sounds like they deserve your vote. Can’t say the same of candidates here.
@grahamrb haha that’s an improvement. But still, you only hear f these guys during election time and they all say the same thing…
Local election ads are all the same: Cheesy portrait and “Vote 1” in large, empty slogan about working for the community, and not much else.
@JZ Great work on Basecamp’s speed. But mobile use doesn’t have to imply “bandwidth starved” – I use it around the office all the time.

@deanfra it’s been working fine for me around Melbourne.
@grahamrb LTE’s draining it maybe?
@grahamrb NO! Maybe you should have lined up after all…
@trowdy That too, yes! So annoying.

@owenhodda @deanfra All credit to her. She didn’t hold back at all.
@owenhodda Scumbag Abbott. How he gets away with answers like that is beyond me.
Context trumps consistency in UI design. Style guides are just that, guidelines. They don’t deal with every real situation, but you have to.
@xAbhishek @rashmiswamy Woah, I hadn’t seen this either. Nice design! Love the soft tones and use of pink.

@andrewlitvak Of course. It’s just taking forever to download.
@andrewlitvak Yeah. It’s not right for the obvious ones, but if being aware of the alternate options is critical, then push it right.
@andrewlitvak Apple has placed primary actions on the right before. Highlighting it is key. On right can help users scan the other options.

@melizaho I don’t know how they get away with it.
@timmackay Yep, scumbaggery to the max, @IMAXMelbourne!

Typography can’t hide your dull copy. Textures won’t fix your weak composition. Focus on the epicentre. Be creative in the right things.

@trowdy LOL thanks.
@deanfra Today it’s called UX, tomorrow something else. I just design for humans and try not to use the acronym version of User Experience.
@trowdy @deanfra Sound principles, but ultimately UX is an end result, not a prescription. We need to design well FOR a good user experience
@deanfra Pretty much. It’s what User Experience stood for historically, but overuse and misuse has misrepresented its real focus (People!)
@deanfra I know it’s stretching it, but substitute ‘user’ with ‘human’ and the distinctions in design and channels start to fade away.
@deanfra They are interacting with your store’s staff, brochures, ads or floor plan at a psychological level. In that sense, they are users.
@deanfra @established1987 Because user experience concerns people, regardless of channel. Designing a phone UX or web UX is not dissimilar.
@deanfra @established1987 I don’t make that distinction. I am always designing for users, regardless of whether they’re a customer yet.
Sometimes, the best user experience design is NOT to make a website or iPhone app. Could you design a better store or phone service instead?
